Gala to Honor Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath and Sonia A. Solin
Sycamores will host its annual Celebrating Children Gala on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the historic Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles. This unforgettable evening will bring together community leaders, supporters, and advocates to celebrate two extraordinary changemakers while raising essential funds for Sycamores’ behavioral health programs.
Guests will enjoy a chef-prepared three-course dinner, exciting auctions, and a special musical performance by Broadway actor Davis Gaines, Los Angeles’ longest-running Phantom of the Opera. The evening will also feature inspiring stories from individuals who have shown incredible resilience and growth with the support of Sycamores’ programs.
The centerpiece of the Gala is the presentation of the Sycamores Celebrating Children Award, which honors leaders whose compassion, advocacy, and vision have made a lasting difference in the lives of those most in need. The 2026 honorees are The Honorable Lindsey P. Horvath, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, 3rd District, and Sonia A. Solin, Former Sycamores Board Chair.
“This evening is about more than celebration – it’s about recognizing the people who help make healing possible,” said Debra Manners, President and CEO of Sycamores. “Supervisor Horvath and Sonia Solin exemplify what it means to lead with compassion and purpose. Their work has strengthened our communities and helped thousands of individuals move toward stability, hope, and a brighter future.”
Supervisor Horvath has been instrumental in advancing initiatives that strengthen mental health, solutions to homelessness, and access to affordable housing across Los Angeles County. Her leadership in reforming County governance and the homeless services system led to the preservation of vital programs serving Transition Age Youth in fiscal year 2025-2026, which has directly benefited Sycamores’ housing programs. Additionally, Supervisor Horvath has shown her ongoing dedication to ensuring that constituents receive vital mental health services during crises, including when the Supervisor stood alongside other elected officials and leaders at Sycamores’ press conference on its 9-8-8 Mobile Crisis Outreach Team Services. With Supervisor Barger, Supervisor Horvath is steadfast in her commitment to wildfire recovery and rebuilding. As a devout Catholic, the Supervisor is unwavering in championing social safety net programs and protections for our most vulnerable community members in Los Angeles County.
Sonia Solin served as Sycamores’ Board Chair from July 2023 to June 2025, a period marked by significant growth and innovation. Under her leadership, Sycamores expanded its unarmed behavioral health crisis teams in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties, broke ground on new Children’s Crisis Programs at the El Nido campus and was honored as Nonprofit of the Year by the California State Legislature. Her dedication, insight, and steady guidance have strengthened Sycamores’ mission and helped countless individuals create a better life.
Together, Supervisor Horvath and Ms. Solin embody the spirit of the Celebrating Children Award – leaders whose compassion and commitment are shaping a more hopeful future for children, families, and adults throughout Southern California.
The Celebrating Children Gala is co-chaired by Megan Browne of La Cañada Flintridge and Clemmy Closson of Pasadena, both longtime Sycamores supporters. Closson, an active member of the Pasadena Showcase House Committee with more than 35 years of experience in marketing and advertising, joins Browne, a member of the La Cañada Thursday Club and the Development Committee for Professional Child Development Associates, in leading this meaningful evening.
Proceeds from the Gala will directly support Sycamores’ critically needed child welfare and behavioral health programs, impacting more than 37,000 low-income individuals each year – helping them heal, grow, and create a better life.
