For the boys living at our El Nido residential campus, this summer included a very special adventure: a deep-sea fishing trip! Thanks to the generous support of the Los Altos Auxiliary, our youth had the opportunity to spend a beautiful day on the Pacific Ocean, reeling in memories along with their catch.
“It was an awesome trip!” shared one of our staff members. “The weather was sunny and breezy – just right for fishing. We spent most of the day out on the water and managed to catch sand bass and mackerel. Watching the boys reel them in was so exciting!”
The day wasn’t just about fishing – it was about connection, learning, and pure joy. The group spotted dolphins during the boat ride, had a friendly fishing competition, and learned valuable techniques from staff member Fernando, a skilled fisherman. He even taught the group how to cast properly and tie their own hooks.
“The best part was just being outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of the ocean,” staff shared. “We told stories, laughed a lot, and enjoyed every minute. It was a perfect day, and we can’t wait to go again.”
We’re incredibly grateful to the Los Altos Auxiliary for making this experience possible. Thanks to their continued commitment, our youth were able to enjoy a day filled with learning, laughter, and the simple thrill of catching a fish.
